Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue | Daniel and his mother moved from New Jersey to California. He had a great new job, but Daniel soon discovered that a dark-haired Italian man with a Jersey accent was no match for the crowd of blonde surfers. Daniel managed to get out of a number of fights, but he ended up being cornered by several people from the same karate school. When Daniel passed out after being beaten, he saw Miyagi, an old gardener, go to battle and save him by equipping half a dozen teenagers. Miyagi and Daniel immediately find the real motivation behind the boys’ violent attitude in the form of their karate teacher. Miyagi promised to teach Daniel karate and participate in the Whole Valley Tournament for a few months. When his training started, Daniel did not understand what was shown to him. Miyagi seems more interested in owning Daniel’s paint fence and wash car than teaching him karate.
