VorpX is a 3D driver which allows users to play their non-VR game library immersively through an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset. Version 17.3.0 brings a new ‘Direct VR Settings Optimizer. Vorpx is finicky and takes a lot of setup and is only ideal for a handful of that games on the list of supported games that I've tried. Those games are fallout 4, skyrim, and GTA V. For those games alone if your interested then it is worth it. Yep I had same problem when I went to vorpx web setup cos I thought new update was released for oculus 1.3 so it uninstalled oculus 1.3 runtime and downloaded 0.8 grrrrrrr I lost my oculus home and had to re download my games again. Vorpx for 1.3 runtime is coming soon so don't run your vorpx web setup. The VorpX dev should clearly state which games supports which mode in the supported list. What the fuck OP. They aren't selling fucking cookies straight out of God's oven, they're selling a very general application. The second they claim to support specific games, people like you will come along and drool over how they got fucked by those. VorpX supports about 80 games officially in Stereo 3D, but many more DX9-DX11 titles will just work out of the box. The only thing missing in these unsupported games is Stereo 3D. VorpX is a 3D driversoftware that enables the users to play traditional PC games on an Oculus Rift (Platform) and other VR HMDs. It enables the users to experience VR features such as stereoscopic 3D and head tracking on many DirectX 9-11 games that were not made for virtual reality. Additionally, vorpX provides support for issues that may arise when playing games on the Rift that are not designed for it. Players can purchase the software for an one time fee of $39.99.^[1]

Unique features of vorpX:

Edge Peek: One-click and you can view the entire screen at a glance.
VR Keys: A virtual keyboard allowing quick access to in-game features, no need to look at your keyboard.
Image Zoom: Zoom the entire image out to enjoy Cut-scenes.
Gamepad Emulation: Map Headtracking to Gamepad input.

vorpX provides VR support for more than 150 games. Out of these 150, the first release of the product supported around 80 games in full stereoscopic 3D. Even without the stereoscopic 3D experience, vorpX provides all other features including full head tracking.^[2]

The latest version of the software is vorpX 0.9.1 and supports Oculus 0.8. In this version, Direct Driver Mode along with Asynchronous Rendering is present. Asynchronous Rendering allows significantly improves the gaming experience of the user, if the users cannot reach 75 fps or higher natively. Additionally, the driver offers a new feature called Crystal Image, which improves the quality of injected VR games and according to vorpX, the games’ visuals become closer to native VR games.^[3]

The new version of vorpX includes a Dedicated Video Player Mode which allows the users to play 3D movies through a HMD. Famous software like VLC media player and Media Player Classic – Home Cinema (MPC-HC) both offer profiles which support this feature.^[3]

How does it work?

vorpX works by injecting itself into the game files and then dividing the display screen for each lens of the Oculus Rift. After launching the software, the user can turn on the Oculus Rift HMD then launch a supported game.^[4] The 3D experience created by vorpX is richer and overall superior to that of the 3D monitors available in on the market. This is because regular 3D screens separate convergence and focus so it cannot provide the same effect as human eyes. vorpX provides 3D experience using an algorithm known as the Adaptive 3D-Algorithm. The algorithm simulates the way human eyes focus, providing the user with an immersive 3D experience as if he or she is inside the game.^[5]
